James "Jim" Howard Martin, age 77, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1947. Preceded in death by parents, Howard and Margaret Dunn Martin; grandparents, William and Ellis Hobbs Martin, and James and Mary Krantz Dunn. He was raised by a faithful servant, Florence Batten.
James was a '65 Overton High grad and '73 Belmont B.S. business Management grad. Staff Sergeant Martin provided rescue, recovery and restoration amid Hurricane Camille in 1969. He served with the 6250th Combat Support Group in Tan Son Nhut, Vietnam. He later helped local military organizations established the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Legislative Plaza.
James was a caregiver for his parents, a volunteer for American Red Cross and donated 32 gallons of blood as a Blood Donor. He was a member of Judson Baptist Church of Nashville.
A gathering of family & friends for Jim will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 2:30 PM, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 3:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Lakeview, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
