Born on March 6, 1943, in Nashville, Jamie was a proud native. He graduated from Cumberland High School with the class of 1961 and went on to serve his country in the United States ARMY. After that he worked as a Meter Technician for Nashville Electric Service, where he dedicated many years of hard work and service to his community.
On October 23, 1993, Jamie married Patsy Hatfield Grooms, in Nashville. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, family, and shared joy.
Jamie had a passion for life and was truly happiest outdoors—especially riding his lawn mower, where he found peace and simple satisfaction. His humor, kind heart, and love for life were just a few of the qualities that made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy; his children, Angie (Clay) Hedgepath and Jim (Heather) Hatfield; his grandchildren, Brittany (Sam), Jay (Hailey), Kristen (Austin), Jordan (James), Jared (Angelica), and Abby; and bonus great-grandchildren, Freja, Winnie, Tallie, and Aubree. Jamie is also survived by his loving sisters, Beulah James and Nancy Cotton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred Grooms and brother, Bill Grooms.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jamie’s name may be made to the Nashville Humane Society or by phone to the Al Menah Shriners of Nashville, Tennessee—two causes close to his heart.
Jamie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
