James "Sam" Samuel Andrews, age 67, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away after a brief and sudden illness on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He was born in the Panama Canal Zone to Harold and Sarah Andrews. He was an Army brat who spent his childhood in Honduras, Connecticut, and Germany. After high school he moved back to Nashville, met and fell in love with Theresa “Tookie” Derrick. They married June 10, 1978, and never looked back. He was an exceptional husband and father to their 4 children.
A mechanic by trade, he applied his knack for problem solving not just to cars but to everyday life and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Sam loved his family, foreign cars, the ocean, war movies, good puns, and sarcasm.
Sam is survived by his loving wife Tookie, daughter Allison Brais(Mark), sons James, Aaron, and Joe Andrews, grandson Dylan Mair, Mother Sarah Andrews, brother Tim Andrews, many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Andrews and sister, Sherry Deardorf.
There will be a visitation for Sam on Monday March18, 2024 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN and again on Tuesday March 19th from 10 am until his Funeral Mass at 11 am at Church of the Holy Rosary 192 Graylynn Drive, Nashville, TN 37214. Sam will be buried in Mallory's Church Cemetery in Chapmansboro, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospitals or to the charity of your choice.
