Jae Won Shim

Jae (Jay) Won Shim passed away on July 15, 2020, at the age of 78 years. Jay will be remembered by his children Rose (Kip) Pierce and Peter J Shim, and his grandchildren Benjamin and Alexander Pierce. He will also be remembered by his extended family in CA, VA, and South Korea.

Ursula Choon Shim of Nashville, TN is the mother of his children.

Jay was born on November 13, 1941 in Seoul, South Korea, and after graduating from Seoul National University with a Masters degree in music, migrated to the United States in 1974, and was a resident of Nashville, TN from 1978. Jay was a music teacher, pianist, organist, and choir conductor, then transitioned to an entrepreneurial career with a wholesale distributing company, commercial real estate, and other business ventures.

He was a master gardener, had a great love for classical music. He was a wonderful provider to his family. He will be remembered for his determination and perseverance he displayed his entire life, and especially during his last days. Jay had an irresistible smile and would love to entertain anyone with a story. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Blanche.
