MOORE, Jr., Dr. J. Tucker - age 75, died peacefully on February 19, 2012. Born in Nashville, TN on December 13, 1936, Dr. Moore graduated from East Nashville High School in 1954. He completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1960. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in Norfolk, VA from 1960 until 1962. He married and moved back to Nashville to open his dental practice where he worked until his retirement in 2004. During his years in private practice, Dr. Moore was recognized as a Fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He held numerous leadership positions in the Nashville Dental Society and the Tennessee State Dental Association, including serving as President of both organizations. He also served as President of the Greater Nashville Dental Study Club and was the Director of the Nashville Dental Society Registered Dental Assistants Program. As a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Dr. Moore went on two mission trips to Haiti. Dr. Moore was preceeded in death by his parents, Jesse T. Moore, Sr. and Ruby Joe Moore (nee Thompson), and his sister, Jackie Felts, all of Nashville, TN. He is survived by his five children: Jesse T. (Linda) Moore, III of Nashville, TN; Colette (Ron) Balmer of Roswell, GA; Greg (Mimi) Moore of Hinsdale, IL; Nicole (Josh) Batey of Nashville, TN; Claudine (Rob) Allen of Nashville, TN and their mother, Colette Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl (Dan)Bernier of Hendersonville, TN; his niece Ginger Botts of Old Hickory, TN and 15 grandchildren. The family wishes to extend its grateful appreciation to the dedicated and caring staff at Richland Place Nursing Home as well as to Dr. Louis Garrard, III and Dr. Raoul Concepcion. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 1pm until 7pm at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Avenue North, Nashville. The funeral Mass will be at 10am on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3001 Belmont Blvd, Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Moore’s memory may be made to Best Buddies Tennessee at bestbuddiestennessee.org. Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
