Irby Morgan Smith III

SMITH, Irby Morgan, III, age 68 of La Vergne, TN, passed away on Tuesday December 28, 2021. Mr. Smith was born on March 24, 1953 in Nashville to Irby Smith, Jr. (1998) and Opal F. (Peek) Smith (2007). Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Lynne F. (Ballingall) Smith Rybinski (2008); and son, Irby F. Smith (2020).

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 23 years Brinda (Austin) Crafton Smith; son, Ryan D. Smith and wife Lindsay of Friendship, WI; daughter, Dawn M. Smith, Smyrna, TN; step-daughter, September E. Giles and husband Robert of Spring Hill, TN; siblings, Ronnie L. Jones and wife Charlotte, Collierville, TN; Sherrye (Jones) and husband Bard Young, White Bluff TN; Patsy (Jones) and husband Charles Haslam, Bon Aqua, TN; grandchildren, Taylor M. Smith, Serenity N. Rainwater, Braxton C. Smith, McKenzie H. Smith, Noah D. Smith, Adalynne G. Smith, Leeland D. Smith, and Gemma E. Giles.

Mr. Smith attended Una Elementary, Lipscomb Jr. H, Antioch HS, and earned an A.S. Computer Technology degree from Nashville Tech. He was also a U. S. Navy Veteran, Vietnam era.

Mr. Smith grew up attending Una Church of Christ, later attended Spirit of Life Church (Antioch) (1998-2011), since 2011 attended New Living Hope Church (Smyrna). After working in the construction business for several years, upon completing his formal education, he became a telecommunications technician; eventually establishing a family communications installation/repair business. His hobbies included woodworking projects and online computer games.

A celebration of Irby’s life will be on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Dignity Hall at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home (Nashville). A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by a chapel service at 1:00 PM and burial in the Dogwood section of Woodlawn Memorial Park.
