Herbie (Herbert Glenn) Williams, born February 10, 1956, in Nashville, passed away December 14, 2022, after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and Patty Sue Williams. He grew up in Donelson, where his family moved the month before his birth. He attended Donelson Child Development Center in his early years and attended Providence School until he was 21. He attended Donelson Church of Christ with his mother.
Herbie worked in his family restaurant, "The Cabin", and then in the second family restaurant, "Mama’s Kitchen". Later, he went to work at New Horizons Life Skills, a workshop employing individuals with disabilities. This workshop and the child development center were both founded by the late Wanda Burkett. He retired from New Horizons in 2017 after more than 30 years. He loved taking his lunch and riding the bus to work.
Herbie never met a stranger. He would extend his hand and say, “Hi, I’m Herbie”. And after he met you, he always remembered you, even after many years. He loved riding motorcycles and his four wheelers. He loved music by Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley but he just loved music and dancing. He loved Christmas and went to see Santa each year to ask for a watch, batteries, and a radio. He loved going to Oklahoma to visit Uncle Billy and to Florida with sister, Connie, and her family.
Herbie is survived by his siblings, Mary Anita Patterson of Mount Juliet, TN, Teresa Bryson of Hermitage, TN, Rodney (Denise) Patterson of McMinnville, TN, Lucian (Delana) Patterson of Lebanon, TN, Randy Williams of Nashville, TN, Yvonne Brown of Mount Juliet, TN, and Connie (Walter) Lovell of Donelson, TN. He was beloved by 9 nieces and nephews: Tammie Bryson Fuller, Wesley Bryson, Allen Patterson, Timothy Patterson, Shane Patterson, Crystal Patterson Green, Corey Brown, Davis Lovell, and Elise Lovell. He had twenty grand nephews and nieces and ten great grand nieces and nephews.
Herbie will be remembered by many friends. He brought joy into the lives of everyone who met him. The family would like to thank Regina, Diamond, Zoe, Casey, and all the staff with TSF for taking such loving care of him for the last two years.
