Fred was born on July 9, 1931 in Puritan Mines, WV to the late Gaines A. Garrett and Mary Maynard Garrett.
He is survived by his wife Betty Garrett; daughter, Yvonne Carpenter (David) of Nashville, TN;
son, Mark Garrett (Teresa) of Portland, TN; grandchildren, Michelle Gares (Calen) and David Carpenter III of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Keegan Gares and Ellie Gares of Nashville, TN;
sister, Faye Woolridge of Bluefield, WV.
Fred and Betty were married on June 16, 1956 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage.
He was a member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ.
Fred was a UT Vols football fan, loved photography, travel, traditional country music, and his grand kids and great grand kids. He was a sweet, kind, hard working man.
He previously worked at Aladdin Industries and then went to work for Nortel, where he retired.
Visitation will be at Crieve Hall Church of Christ, 4806 Trousdale Dr., Nashville, TN 37220 on Friday, August 20. 2021 from 10:00–12:00, with the Funeral Service at 12;00. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln., Nashville, TN 37204
