Helen Janes Blakely

Helen Janes Blakely, age 87, of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, December 30th, 2023. She was born on June 6th, 1936 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Mary Ellen) Janes. Born in St. Johns, Newfoundland in Canada, and attended Macpherson Academy. After graduating she worked at CJON radio station and then at Pepperrell Air Force Base. She later relocated to America in 1956 and resided in Nashville, Tennessee where she worked for the State of Tennessee for over 20 years.

In her free time she enjoyed drinking coffee with her friends, Centering Prayer, reading, journaling, and writing (published article).

Helen is preceded in death by her father, Charles Sheridan Janes; mother, Mary Ellen Janes; and son, Ben Keys Blakely, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Blakely Bauer (Tom); grandson, Joseph Hardin (Becca); granddaughter, Amy Hardin Cook (Ben); grandson, Austin Blakely (Brennan); daughter-in-law, Diane Blakely; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Hardin, Caitlin Hardin, and Conor Cook.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Friday, January 5th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.

A Celebration of Life and Cryptside Service will follow the visitation at the same location.

The family invites all guests to a reception at Woodlawn following entombment.
