Heather Lynn Pelton of Hermitage, TN, 43 passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at her residence. She was born May 30, 1977 at Flowood, Mississippi and her life adventures led her to live many places: Canton and Hattiesburg, MS; Huntsville, AL; Fairfax and Dumfries, VA; Anderson, Summerville, Columbia, Taylors and Travelers Rest, SC: and finally Hermitage, TN. She graduated from Clemson University in Social Studies and Human Resource Management where she met her husband, making South Carolina her home and loving the Clemson Tigers.
Today our dear Heather is at home with Jesus. Our hearts are broken because we didn’t have enough time, but do we ever have enough time? She was ready to meet Jesus and had told us many times. She told her mom and dad “Thank you for teaching me the most important lesson in life – the love of Jesus Christ.”
Heather had a lot of compassion and care. As a child she took in stray animals. As an adult, if she saw a hungry dog in the neighborhood she would feed it for days. If she saw a lonely and hungry person she would seek to help or a homeless person she would try to provide them temporary shelter. Once she even rescued a woman off the streets and weather, got her a place to stay and provided her a ride to work until she could make other arrangements. She also made sure these people knew about Jesus.
Heather is survived by her husband Joseph “Joe” Pelton, children Hannah of Travelers Rest, SC, Logan “Drue” of Ashville, NC, and Eli, and her parents Vivian and Drue Moore of Canton, MS.
Heather is preceded in death by a daughter Abbigail Pelton and her grandparents Maggie and Ira Beale of Canton, MS and Katie and Drue Moore of Canton.
A private viewing for immediate family will be held Sunday at 1 PM. A memorial service will be held at a later date, not yet scheduled. She was organ donor had chosen to be cremated.
