Grayson Warfield Harris

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday June 28th at St. George’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will be held at 12 Noon until the service time. Internment will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Grayson was born January 24th, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. She is predeceased by her father Eugene “Gene” Owen Harris Jr., her mother Sara “Sadie” Grayson Harris, her Brother Eugene “Gene” O. Harris III. She is survived by her sister Sara Harris Nelson and her brother, Frank Scott “Scotty” Harris.

Grayson attended Parmer School down the street from where she lived on Leake Ave. She attended Harpeth Hall School graduating in 1961. She attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia and spent a year in France honing her French fluency. Post college, she spent a year living in New York where she worked for American Express before marrying and living in Kentucky, Virginia and Nebraska before finally settling in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Grayson spent 30 years living in New Orleans raising four children and greatly contributing to her community. She was an active parishioner at Trinity Episcopal Church having been a life long Episcopalian. She was also a strong advocate for Trinity Episcopal School where she held numerous parent leadership positions before ultimately serving as the Chairman of the Board for four years. She was a member of the Junior League of New Orleans, the Garden Study Club of New Orleans and Director of Development at Lighthouse for the Blind and Holy Cross School.

In 2007, Grayson relocated post Hurricane Katrina back to Nashville picking up right where she left off forty years earlier becoming immediately active in the community. She was an active bridge player and frequent traveler both in the U.S. and abroad. Additionally, she was a member of the Junior League of Nashville, the Centennial Club, the Garden Club of Nashville, the First Wednesday Study Club and the Belle Meade Country Club. She was a faithful member of St. George’s Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild.

Besides her family, Grayson loved her friends and was fortunate to have been blessed with many dear friends from different places during her life. She was truly appreciative of the kindness from her friends during every season of her life.

Besides her sister Sara and brother Scotty, Grayson is survived by her four children and their spouses; H. Denny Taylor, Jr. (Jennifer), Grayson Taylor Falcon (George), Owen Harris Taylor (Krissy) and Lowrie Scott Taylor. She also had seven grandchildren; Peter Harris Taylor, Christopher Harding Falcon II, Charlotte Mikell Taylor, Scott Harris Falcon; Owen Campbell Falcon, Jackson Harris Taylor, Katherine Gates Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her name to either St. George’s Episcopal Church in Nashville, Tennessee or Trinity Episcopal School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
