Growing up on a farm Gerald had a multitude of priceless family memories from the farm chores to the tapping of the maple trees to make syrup. He could have written a book full of all the wonderful stories he always told.
He learned at an early age to hunt with his dad, fishing by far was his favorite. Gerald worked hard all his life, his favorite topic in school was agriculture.
He loved sports, antiques, gardening, growing tomatoes, hot peppers, and flowers. He enjoyed cooking, baking and using his smoker.
He was blessed with many friends, joked a lot and always had an ear to ear smile. He had a deep love for Jesus.
Gerald is survived by four children. Jerry (Connie), Cynthia (Philip), Victoria (Larry), and Laura (Bob), nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Preceded in death by his parents Leander and Hattie (Brunner) Metz, brother Robert Metz, sisters Idella (Metz) Borman and Jeanette (Metz) Boheim, best friend and long life partner Peggy Lee (Herrin) Thompson and his ex-spouse Marian, the mother of his four children.
