I’m so sorry to hear of this.  The shock of Royce’s passing made me sit down.  He was completely intertwined in my life from my earliest memories at church.  His father Gerald  directed my parents in choir, and I later also learned under Gerald’s leadership. Royce was a Wednesday night bible school leader and a mentor for me and my friends.  I am saddened and stunned by his departure from this earth.  

I am so sorry to learn of Royce’s passing. Your grief must be great, as is my sadness. It was a joy to go to Procurement and give or receive work info with Royce. He was always happy to see you and share a laugh. My thoughts will be with you in the days ahead as you transition. My prayers will be for peace and consolation. Royce's passing was a jolt to me. I was fortunate to have him in my Bble study class in his 12th grade. He was attentive to what I said  and enjoyed the fellowship of the class. I do not take any credit for the fact he made a solid citizen, served his God, showed much love for those around him. Mission trips and Promise Keepers are two times when his witness came to the forefront. His friendliness to me will be long remembered. Bless Mary and the family.

I am so very sad to see my friend go, but rejoice in where he is now.  
My thoughts will continue to be with  Mary and her daughters and their family.  

Since I heard the news, I’ve caught myself multiple times saying…I just can’t believe he’s really gone.  Royce was the best of the best…he was kind, funny, mischievous, supportive, hard core ‘Bama fan, he was a friend, and from what I saw of the life he lived—he was a faithful Christ follower that I have no doubt God welcomed with “well done, good and faithful servant” no doubt at all. I wish I’d had the chance to tell him how much his influence had meant on my life over the years.  For Mary and his girls, I’m praying for y’all.  I’m praying for peace that surpasses understanding.  You were blessed with one of the greatest and I just can’t imagine the magnitude of your loss through this.  

Great memories of a Christian man that was a friend to us, a great example to our youth at church and my son, parent and leader at Norman Binkley and and a friend of mine on Facebook that always made me laugh!! My love and respect to our family with the loss of my nephew, Royce Armstrong.  He became the good man that my brother, Gerald and sister-in-law, Darlene raised him to become.  They were very proud of him.  A devoted family man with love for everyone and service to Christ, his family and friends.  He worked hard to take care of his family and lead them to a dedicated, Christian life.  God bless all of us who will miss you, Royce.  Your Uncle Jim.



I’ll always remember the hugs. Royce would say, I’m a hugger and go out of his way to greet you at  Church with a Hug.  
His presence will be missed by many people , and we grieve with Mary & his Family at his absence here on Earth,  but rejoice in his forever home; Where I’m sure he was welcomed with a warm hug into the arms of GOD.   


Royce was great to work with.  He was always very helpful and full of positive thoughts.  He once called me a rock star; I believe he was the true rock star.  I will truly miss him.  He and I worked together but I considered him a friend.

Royce and I go back 46 years to Jr high at McMurray and then Overton and Belmont. Band was our bond.  My friend and I later shared the same doctor and frequently did lunch when we worked downtown together. He was a true brother.  Bubba Wrenn

 I had the privilege to work with Royce my last year at LifeWay. He was always so kind and soft spoken. I know he will be greatly missed by his family and co-workers. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone.

Royce was a kind, friendly and dedicated Christian. I enjoyed deer hunting with him. He was a good influence to my children during their teenage years . We lost him too soon. RIP

I never worked directly with Royce at Lifeway, but I was on some work teams with him. He was a very soft-spoken man and always had a smile on his face. I know heaven is rejoicing, but he will be greatly missed here on earth, Please know that thoughts and prayers are with the family today and in the days and months ahead. Gone way too soon.

This is a picture that Royce made for me. He always teased me that the art school I went to didn't have sports. So he created a mascot. The Fighting T-Squares! It will always be an example of the laughs we had together and the joy of the Lord that he shared with everyone.

I will always be grateful for Royce’s laughter and kind heart.  He was just the right amount of fun and serious and always willing to help you.  I looked up to him as the “adult” I got to see at church and work (for a couple of years) as I was finding my footing in the adult world.  He kept life fun and I am so grateful to have known him and been a part of the life of his family.

I can still feel his big hug, and see his sparkling smile, in December at our Nashville First Baptist pianos concert.  I always get the best hugs from both Royce and Mary.   He was alone that night but came looking for me. Little did I know that would be my last smile, hug, and conversation with that Godly man.  Ring those Heavenly bells sweet man.😍

Royce served for many faithful years as the Treasurer for Lifeway Credit Union.  Royce was dedicated and loved Lifeway Credit Union! He always brought an open mind to discussions and had the members' best interest in mind when making decisions.  His strong faith in God was evident in all our conversations and he will be dearly missed.  We will think of you each time our meeting is adjourned.  Until we meet again...

I had the privilege of working with Royce from 1987 - 2017 at Lifeway. I also had the opportunity of playing church volleyball with & against him in the early ‘90s. Whether he was working or playing, Royce was the same genuine, kind, and real person to me and to everyone with whom he interacted. It was always obvious that his faith and his family were very important to him.  And what a sense of humor Royce had! Mary, Tiffany, Ashley, and family, I am very sorry for your loss. I am praying for you all each time you come to my mind. Blessings to y’all.

Royce was a good man.  He was my boss for about two and a half years when I worked at LifeWay.  He treated everyone with kindness and respect.  Our loss is heaven's gain.  

Royce was one of the first people to invite me to lunch when I started out at Lifeway.
He was always asking how I was doing, even when I moved away to North Carolina.
He was super supportive (Mary and Royce even came to see me do Stand up once).
We will miss him a lot!

Such a good friend what a wonderful person he was I knew Royce at Lifeway for about the past 30 to 35 years could not have met a more wonderful and godly person keep his family in your prayers thank you.
