Gail Kerr, age 52, was born on August 22, 1961 and died on March 25, 2014. Mrs. Kerr was a member of Downtown Presbyterian Church. She worked for The Tennessean from 1978 to the present day. She attended High School at Donelson Christian Academy and was a graduate of Southwestern (Rhodes College) at Memphis where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of The Society of Professional Journalists and was very involved with The Bob Mueller Celebrity Golf Tournament for MS. She also worked with the annual Women Against MS luncheon. She helped every year with the Gridiron fund raising event.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joe McKnight and sister, Sherry McKnight. She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Les Kerr; mother, Peggy McKnight, sister and brother-in-law, Joyce & Rodger McLean; nephews, Craig (Maggie) McLean and Keith McLean; and great niece, Alijana McLean. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Downtown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ken Locke officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Downtown Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Downtown Presbyterian Church, The National MS Society, and The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation.
