Eugene Alexander Nowell (Gene) of Franklin, TN went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2016. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones. Gene was born on May 18, 1944 in Nashville and graduated from Hillsboro High School and Samford University. After marrying Joellen in 1967, he was employed by First American Bank and served in the Army National Guard. In 1974, Gene and his family moved to Chattanooga where he was president of Signal Plating, Inc. and was a longtime member of Brainard Baptist Church. Gene had a quiet spirit and enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveling; however, his true pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Joellen; children, Christopher (Michele) Nowell, Andrea (Richard) Patrick, Holly (Michael Sass); grandchildren, Jake and Hannah Patrick, Cooper, Hudson, and Adeline Sass; and siblings, Tolbert (Judy) Nowell and Judith Troughton. A Celebration of life will be held at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall in Nashville, Friday June 3rd at one o’clock in the afternoon. Gathering of family and friends on Thursday, from four o’clock until seven o’clock, Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
