One of eight children, they were a close family who showed their love and devotion to each other throughout their lives. Emma is survived by Ethel (Jimmy) Kinningham and Paul Wayne Knoer, the youngest siblings. After graduation she moved to Nashville with her best friend, Tommy O’Neal. They lived in the Hillsboro Village area before Emma moved into the Women’s Home, which was sponsored by the Central Church of Christ and began working for the Southern Bell phone company, later known as South Central Bell. This was where she met her future husband, Harold Foster. They were married in 1947 and spent 38 years together before he passed.
Emma was a wonderful host and enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. She was known for her gardening, especially her vegetables and floral gardens and also found time to volunteer for many church and community events. As Gran, Emma spent many days with her grandsons, taking them to Opryland, out for pizza, and for overnight sleepovers. They all remember family reunions in Huntland with her family. To celebrate each grandson, Gran made a book with photos for every one of their birthdays through age 18. She traveled throughout Europe and the United States with friends and family, enjoying many trips and adventures. Emma was an active member of the Baptist church and belonged to Lakewood Baptist Church for 30 years and then transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church of Donelson. She attended church regularly until in her 90s and showed her love and dedication to her faith by her thoughts and actions.
Emma is survived by her sons; Danny (Geri) Foster, Herbie (Carol) Foster, grandchildren; Robert (Meghan), Will (Lindsey), Clayton (Britney) and Brian (Caroline) and 8 great grandchildren.
