Elnora Burnette Davenport, age 93, of Nashville, Tennessee went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was born to the late Oda Temple and Edward Burnette on January 2, 1929 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.
Elnora received her education through Freed Hardeman and Harding University. In the 1950’s, she was a personal secretary 1st for Mr. Horace.G.(H.G.) Hill and later for Bronson Ingram II. Her expertise in shorthand put her in high demand. She met the love of her life Amos Davenport, who she met at Harding University, and they married on June 27, 1952, at the Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville. Elnora and Amos lived in Nashville, Tennessee when they were first married – then moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky – Louisville, Kentucky and settled in Nashville, TN for good in 1965 where they raised their family. She was a member of Brentwood Church of Christ. In her later years everyone knew Elnora as Mimi. She was such a positive person and used her energy to encourage everyone around her. She was always anxious to share the good news of Christ. She thrived on family, friends and mentoring all ages. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she's touched.
Elnora is survived by her son, Robert (Judy) Davenport; daughter, Lynda Davenport; grandchildren, Whitney (Parsa) Shariati, Jordan and McKenzie Davenport.
Other than her parents Elnora is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Amos Davenport; sister, Frances Vaughn; brother, Bobby Burnette
A gathering of family and friends for Elnora will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a celebration of life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
