Ms. Himes was a communicant of St. George’s Episcopal Church since 1978 and a member of the St. Francis Chapter, Daughters of the King. She served as secretary of the group for 12 years, and was also Diocesan President of the Daughters of the King 1997-2000 and Diocesan Secretary 1994-97. She was a member of the Outreach Committee of St. George’s for 12 years, serving as its secretary for eight years, and was Chairman of the Sunday Lunch-Feed the Homeless program at the Campus for Human Development. She also served on the Board of Directors of St. Luke’s Community House. She was a life member of TN Botanical Gardens & Fine Arts Center at Cheekwood, board member of the Bellevue Harpeth Historic Association and member of the Nashville City Cemetery Association, Nashville Humane Shelter Auxiliary, the Virginia Association, Historic Nashville, the Ladies Hermitage Association and the APTA.
A native of Nashville, she was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Moore Warren III and Louise Haury Warren. She graduated from Lindenwood College, St. Charles, MO, and attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Douglas Himes, Nashville; her son, Joseph Warren Connally, Nashville; her daughter, Elizabeth Fields (Bess) Connally, Knoxville; her grandson, Robert, White Bluff; cousins Albert Nisely, Nashville; Gayle (Lance) McMinn, Hendersonville; Ed Blackman, Hendersonville; Barbara Young, Greer, SC; and three godsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Guardian Angel Fund at Belle Forest Animal Hospital or to the Nashville Humane Association.
A Celebration of Life will be at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Saturday March 14 at eleven-thirty am. The family will receive visitors at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Friday March 13 from six o’clock pm to eight o’clock pm and at ten o’clock am in Hampton Hall at St. George’s Episcopal Church prior to the funeral.
