IVEY, EDWARD DOUGLAS, Age 60 – Born June 8, 1952 in Belhaven, N.C., Doug lived in LaFollette, Knoxville, and finally, Nashville, Tenn., where he died peacefully on February 17 after a battle with cancer. Doug is remembered as a kind and generous person who loved his family, friends and a day at the beach. He took joy in making everyone he encountered feel comfortable and welcome, be it through a conversation or one of his delicious home-cooked meals, and never forgot a name or a face. Preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Fred Ivey, he is survived by his wife, Christy Wilkins Ivey, daughters Leigh and Virginia Ann Ivey, sister Patti Myers (Lee), brothers Don and Brian Ivey (Deana), his nieces Emily Turner, Reed Turner and Mary Grace Myers, nephew, Ben Ivey, his sister-in-law, Melora Turner (Davis), and his in-laws Virginia and Percy Wilkins. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Ensworth School, University School of Nashville or The Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Visitation at 9:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00, Wednesday, February 20, West End United Methodist Church.
