Nashville - Eddith Smith Moats was born April 18, 1924 near Carthage, Tennessee and passed away peacefully May 14, 2021 with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin W. Moats, and parents Edd and Annie Mae Smith.
She was a student at Gallatin High School and graduated with honors. Afterwards, she was a lifelong resident of Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Moats was a active member of West End Methodist Church and was a regular volunteer for many charitable and school causes. She and her husband, Ted, enjoyed extensive traveling around much of the world with their friends and close business associates. She shared a love for playing bridge and was a member of the Centennial Club. Her family and friends meant the world to her and she always enjoyed cooking for them (especially her cookies). Her love, support, and compassion for others were among her greatest gifts. She spent the last years of her life near her sister, Clara, at Park Manor. What a blessing it was to have two loving sisters residing together in the same place.
She is survived by her two sons, Edwin (Ted) W. Moats Jr., and Gary Moats (Carol); grandchildren, Andy Moats (Shelley), Jeff Moats (Sarah), and Deborah Gaddes (Jeffrey); and great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Moats, Lark Moats, and John Mark Gaddes.
At her request, family graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, May 19th, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Edwin (Ted) Moats Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that any donations be made to the Michael Stanley Child Life Fund for Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Alive Hospice, or the charity of your choice. The Family most sincerely appreciates the exceptional care and love she received during her time at Park Manor and would like to thank the entire management and dedicated staff.
