Doris Jean Cherry

Doris was born February 5, 1928 to Carlos Edward and Lellie Heady Cherry in Gainesboro, Tennessee. After attending and graduating from Jackson County High School, Doris moved to Nashville to pursue a career with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. Doris retired after 45 years of exemplary service to the State.

Doris moved back to Gainesboro in 1998 where she renewed old acquaintances and enjoyed her retirement working in her flower garden. She took great pride in her home and its appearance.

A Life-long member of the Church of Christ Doris remained true to her faith until the end.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joanna Tuck and niece Cherry Tuck Bolles.

Doris is survived by brother, Edward Taylor Cherry his wife Alma Keck Cherry, nieces Kirsten Cherry, Ashlen Cherry, Lellie Swords and Kayce Pourciau. Doris also leaves five great nieces and five great nephews.

Visitation Thursday, August 07, 2014 6pm until 8pm at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. Graveside 11 am Friday, August 8, 2014 11 am at Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro, Tennessee.
