David Young

David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Pascall Young, his sister Evelyn Young Hite, and his devoted wife of 48 years, Gloria Ann Carter Young. He is survived by his companion, Frances Faye Washburn; his daughter, Debra Young Breske (Todd); and his son, David P. Young Jr. (Rachel). He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren, Brittainy Kolemba Jones, Kristin Clements Young, Jacob Young, and great-grandchildren London Chloe Smith and Ryman Keith Jones. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Margaret Young and numerous nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Goodlettsville High School and B.U. at Western Kentucky University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. David proudly served his country as a veteran in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Division. He was an active member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Donelson, serving on the vestry and as an usher.

David dedicated his professional life to Carter Hardware Company Inc., where he served as President until 1999. He was also deeply involved in his community, holding a 33rd degree in Masonry and participating actively in the Al Menah Shrine Temple (Patrol Unit), and the Scottish Rite. He was a long-time member of the Society of Amateur Chefs Club of Nashville, and served on the President’s Board at Goodpasture Christian School for many years.

David’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit will be cherished by all who knew him. A devoted follower of Christ and a deep believer in God, he exemplified faith in his daily life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire his family and community.
