David Evan McCauley, Ph.D. - Age 65 of Nashville, passed away October 30, 2015.
Dr. McCauley is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Allen and Alice Willis McCauley.He is survived by his wife, Patricia L. McCauley; children, Michelle and Joseph McCauley; sister, Nancy Palermo (Nicholas); many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and the many friends, colleagues, undergrad, graduate and postdoctoral students.
Dr. McCauley was a Biology professor and researcher at Vanderbilt University for 35 years. He spent roughly 30 summers at Mountain Lake Biological Station in Virginia. Dr. McCauley has over 100 publications and his research was continuously funded by N.S.F. His studies included population genetics of the Milk Weed Beetle, Silene vulgaris, and Queen Anne 's Lace (Daucus carota).
He was a member of The Evolution Society and enjoyed the outdoors, canoeing and fishing (even though he never caught a fish at his favorite spots in Ocean City, NJ).
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs.
A Memorial Service will be held at Benton Chapel on the campus of Vanderbilt at 7pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015.
