David Oscar Kardokus, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2014. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly N. Kardokus. Survived by his son, David N. (Sharon) Kardokus; daughter, Beverly J. (John) Boyle; grandchildren, David Alexander and Meredith Renee Kardokus; sisters, Mary Lou Brown of Topsham, Maine and Jane E. Kardokus of Denver, Colorado. He was a graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana and Vanderbilt University. David was a member of the Vanderbilt Men’s Varsity Basketball Team that won the 1951 SEC Championship. He was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After graduating from Vanderbilt, he served in the Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Kardokus was employed with First American Bank for many years and retired from Third National Bank, now Suntrust. David was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather with an absolute great sense of humor. Visitation will be held from four until eight o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 9th of September, 2014 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 10th of September, at Woodlawn Memorial Park with visitation held one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Kardokus’ caregivers, Romail Branham and Veronica Kelly.
