David Leslie Howard, age 61, died on September 23rd, 2018, in Nashville, TN. David is survived by his wife, JoAnn Woodard Howard, of 41 years; his children, Laura (Jason) Price, Dana (Nick) Corbitt, Phillip (Caitlin) Howard; grandchildren, Emmerson, Bennett, Adam, and Aaron; siblings, Danny (Gloria) Howard and Larry (Carla) Howard ; his nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Heather) Howard , Brian (Amanda) Howard, Tara (Brent) Tedder, Cortney Woodard, and Celeste Norden; and a host of great-nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Haze and Bobbie Howard. David was born on October 29, 1956 in Maryville, TN. He graduated from Antioch High School in 1974 and in 2016, from Western Governors University with a degree in Business Management. He became a Master Electrician in 1989 and was employed at Metro Nashville Airport Authority for 21 years, most recently as the Asst. Manager of Maintenance Services. David was a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives, served as an Examiner for the TN Center for Performance Excellence, earned the Green Belt in Six Sigma Methodology, and received the MNAA Jobe Award for excellence in 2010. David served faithfully at Antioch First Baptist Church (member for 52 years) for more than 42 years as a teacher of discipleship, Sunday School, and Youth; serving 36 years as a deacon. David’s life revolved around time with family, his faith in God and will be remembered for these attributes. As a sports enthusiast, he became an avid runner later in life, where he completed multiple races, including the Spartan Sprint in 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am Thursday, September 27th at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, September 26th and on Thursday, September 27th from 10 am-11am. Jason Price will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life. Flowers are welcome as David loved all of nature; however, a Scholarship for AFBC Youth entering college is being created in his honor.
