David Anthony Coode of Nashville, Tennessee departed to Heaven on Sunday, April 22 after a brief illness. David was born in Cincinnati on October 19, 1961, the youngest child of Ellen Daugherty Coode and George M. Coode.
He was a 1980 graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School, attended the University of Tennessee and went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Contracting from Mississippi State University. David was passionate about his chosen career in landscape architecture and urban planning. He was a principal and senior vice president of Lose Associates of Nashville before joining Kimley-Horn where he led the land-planning team in the Nashville office.
David loved being an assistant scout master for his son's troop of The Boy Scouts of America and volunteered with the Real Life Players. He enjoyed boating, fishing, playing music with friends and spending time with family, particularly travelling with his wife. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, a Registered Landscape Architect, and was certified through the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Married for over 31 years to the love of his life, Beth Modzik Coode, David was an exemplary husband and father to Zachary. He also fathered by extension his future daughter-in-law, Lael Smith.
David's strong faith was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of the Incarnation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, TN.
