Cynthia Marie Cates was born on August 30, 1966, to loving parents Hugh and Helen Cates. She is survived by her mother Helen Cates, brother Steve Cates (Lyn), niece Hannah Cates Dunne and nephew Wesley Cates, all of Nashville. Cindy was the granddaughter of W.I. and Margaret Moore of Nashville and Della Cates of McEwen, Tennessee.
Cindy graduated from John Overton High School and the University of Tennessee, with a Bachelor Degree in Communications.
In her early career, she was a reporter for several Middle Tennessee newspapers and had a tremendous gift for writing. Later in life, she received a Masters in Counseling from Tennessee State University, in order to serve those experiencing mental health challenges.
Cindy’s joys in life were her extended family, her devoted circle of companions and her furry four legged friends.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to visit on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN, 37204. The funeral service will commence at Woodlawn at 1 p.m.
Minister Jeff Mims will preside over the service.
