MSG. Clyde DeForrest (Buddy) Smith, Jr., (RETIRED); born on September 29, 1946 and passed away on March 25, 2017, in Nashville, TN. Survived by Wife, Sharon Cordova Smith, of 42 years and by his two children, Samantha Smith (Jason Steinfort) and Jesse Smith; Siblings, Shirley Kirby, Sandra (Steve) Bell, Stephen (Debbie) Smith and two grandchildren, Sierra Smith and Ethan Steinfort; nieces and nephews. Preceded in passing by his parents, Clyde D. Smith, Sr., and Dorothy Smith; and Sister, Sharon Claire Black and Brother Raymond Lee Smith. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, with a Bachelors of Science, in 1973. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi and Veterans’ Club. He was a member of the Woodbine Jaycees and coached the Phil King Junior Pro football from 1975 - 1979. MSG. Smith loved his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Airborne and the Tennessee National Guard. He retired after 22 years of distinguished service. His last unit assignment was with the 130th Rear Area Operations Center. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He worked for many years as a successful businessman, owning and operating Smith Leather Co. We will miss him, and are thankful to have had a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend that loved each one of us unconditionally. One day we will be together again. Celebration of Life Service will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at eleven thirty in the morning, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Gathering of family and friends, March 27 from four o’clock until eight o’clock, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full Military Honors MSG.
