Chris Burton, age 67, passed away on July 16th, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman Lee and Roberta Mills Rutland. Chris was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who is survived by her husband of 46 years, Tom Burton of Nashville; children, Jamie (Lauren) Burton of Nashville, and Emily (Jeremy) Sanchez of Cannes, France; grandchildren, Reed, Sloane, Micah, Georgia, Luc, and Paul; sisters, Rebecca Rutland of Nashville and Charlotte (Tom) Bryant of Eclectic, AL; brother, Norman (Grace) Rutland, Birmingham, AL. Chris graduated Valedictorian from Norwood High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and completed her degree in Education from David Lipscomb College. She worked at Agape for decades alongside her husband, Tom, who served as Executive Director. She was a member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ and is remembered by friends and family as a strong woman of faith who cared deeply for her family. Visitation will take place at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, Brentwood, TN on Monday, July 20, from four o’clock until eight o’clock, and again on Tuesday, July 21, from eleven o’clock until the hour of service at one o’clock, with Minister Chris Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Daniel Bryant, Jason Bryant, Chris McWilliams, Stephen Burton, Barrett Reed, and Jason Cross. Honorary Pallbearers are Ken Neil, Jeremy Sanchez, Chip Tumblin, present and former employees and board members of Agape and former and present elders and wives of the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.
