Charlie was born on June 15, 1935 to Austin and Mary (Leppert) Webb in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee with his three sisters where he became a welter-weight champion boxer and once swam across the Mississippi River. Charlie graduated from Memphis Catholic Middle and High School and went on to establish a career in retail sales. He was the manager of Scott Appliances, where he notably sold items to Elvis Presley and repossessed a television set from Jerry Lee Lewis.
Charlie was awarded the prestigious Hub Manager Award for Tandy Brand Retail Group in 1991.
Charlie Webb and Nancy Lusby met and fell in love in Memphis and were married on November 22, 1967. They were blessed with two sons, Brandon and Derek, and six grandchildren. Nancy was Charlie’s sweetheart and he loved to sing along as she played his favorite songs on piano.
Known to his grandchildren as “Poppie”, Charlie was devoted to his family and enjoyed many memorable family trips over the years. He had a way with words and a knack for selling - practically anything. After working many years in Memphis, Houston and Lincoln, Nebraska, Charlie retired with his wife in Nashville, Tennessee. Blessed with charisma and charm, he was a savvy businessman and a loving father. His kindness and generosity was unmatched.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Mary (Leppert) Webb and his sisters Mary Ann Goss and Elizabeth Sue Flowers. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy; sons Brandon Webb, MD (Kristin) and Derek Webb (Abbie); 6 cherished grandchildren; his sister Sally as well as many nieces, nephews, other beloved family and dear friends.
Charlie will be dearly missed, though never forgotten.
A private family memorial gathering will be held in his honor.
