Born on October 24, 1945, in Cowans Branch, VA, Carolyn grew up in Kingsport, TN, the second youngest of 10 children. She graduated from Lynn View High School and Carson-Newman College. Carolyn was a respected litigation paralegal at several Nashville law firms and spent almost 25 years working with attorney Randy Bibb. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, renewing old friendships, and being “Grandma Carolyn” and “Mumsey” to her five grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristina Layne, parents, Horrie and Mary Belle Mullins, sisters Lorene Snapp and Freda Mullins, and brothers Walter and Wayne Mullins. She is survived by her son, Michael Leftwich of Nashville, his wife, Janis Turner, their daughters Zoë Turner-Yovanovitch and Olivia and Katelyn Turner-Leftwich and by her son-in-law, J.P. Layne of Hendersonville, and his sons, Jonathan and Christian Layne. She is also survived by sisters Cleo Cleek of Church Hill, TN, Letha Mullins and June Begley of Kingsport, TN, brothers Emory Mullins of Bristol, TN, and Gene (Debra) Mullins of Seattle, WA, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral service to be conducted on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. Interment at Hendersonville Memory Gardens at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home.
