Carol was born February 15, 1930 to George and Macon Covington.
A graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan and Scarritt College, she also earned a Master’ degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School. She had a lifelong love of children and teaching and taught in the Nashville school system for over four decades. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church Nashville and was active in many church ministries.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, James Edward Dillon Sr.; and her sister Peggy Eller. She is survived by daughter, Denise Dillon Tyler (Paul) of Pascagoula, MS; sons, James E. Dillon "Ed" Jr. of Nashville, Jeffrey E. Dillon (Julie) of Memphis; grandchildren, David Wesley Tyler (Lisa) of Washington, DC, James Evan Tyler (Mackenzie) of Alexandria, VA, Brendan Michael Tyler of Washington, DC, Samuel Elliot Dillon of Memphis, TN and Nathaniel James Dillon of Memphis, TN; and great-grandchildren Cora Kathryn Tyler of Washington, DC, and Alexandra Marie Tyler of Washington, DC.
Funeral service was conducted on Saturday, December 30th at First Presbyterian Church, 4815 Franklin Pike, Nashville with Sandra Randleman officiating. Pallbearers include: Ed Dillon, Jeff Dillon, Paul Tyler, David Tyler, Evan Tyler, Brendan Tyler. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
