She was born on September 18, 1940 in Neptune (Cheatham Co.), Tennessee to the late Jonah and Ann Perry Hollis. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Batts, in 2007.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah (Terry) Thacker, Cindy (Jeff) Quinn and Terry (Matt) Van Slyke; grandchildren, Kristin (Taylor) Randalls, Erin (Chad) Goad, Sarah (Jason) Hull, Andrew (Katie) Quinn, Matthew (Jenny) Quinn, Hannah Quinn and Katie (Johnathan) Mabry & 8 great-grandchildren.
Brenda set the standard as a loyal and godly mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren knew her as Nana, but all children naturally gravitated towards her and called her Nana as well. She and John fostered over 20 children through AGAPE. She taught children in Sunday school for over 40 years. For the past 14 years, she enjoyed volunteering in the NICU of The Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt holding and rocking the little ones.
She worked alongside her husband, John to build John Batts Construction which became a respected excavation company in middle Tennessee for 30 years from the 1960’s – 1990’s.
She was a former member of Vultee Church of Christ and later Brentwood Hills Church of Christ for over 15 years.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10am on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Running Springs Farm, 7509 Nolensville Road, Nolensville, TN 37135. Shuttle service will be provided. A private family burial service will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
