Boyd is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ethel; his children Rita (Curt) Austin, Gregory Simmons, and Julie Simmons; his grandchildren Elizabeth Drew and William Austin; his brother Tommy (Nancy) Simmons; and his sister Faye (Fred) Henry. He moved to Nashville in 1958 to attend Draughn's Business College.
A hard-working businessman, Boyd was a partner at Rogers Manufacturing Company. He cherished time spent with his family at their lake house, enjoyed snow skiing, and treasured his travels to Europe with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Boyd was also known for his affection for his great-granddogs, often feeding them treats. He was an avid sports fan, especially loyal to the Kentucky Wildcats. His work ethic, unique way of fixing things, passion for vegetable gardening, and love of animals were some of his greatest qualities passed onto his children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Friday, December 20th, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private family graveside service.
