Billy was born on June 16, 1942 in Nashville, TN to Nelson and Lucille Carter. He grew up in Nashville alongside his 14 siblings and graduated from Central High School. He married the love of his life Barbara Jane Helton on June 29,, 1962 in Nashville where they spent 43 years together.
Billy worked at Jim Reed Chevrolet in the Auto Sales Parts Department for 37 years. During his younger years he loved Chevy’s, bowling, running a pool table, visiting the beach, singing and dancing. Billy was a true joy to be around, he loved brightening everyone’s day with his smile and wit. He loved his life whether it was spending time with family, rocking in his rocking chair or sippin’ on a cold beer. Billy was apart of Jim Reed industrial sports for 20 years playing fast pitch softball and his beloved game of golf.
He was “Daddy” to some and “Pawpaw” to his loving grandchildren. He was proud of them in all of their accomplishments in life. Pawpaw spent many hours at the baseball fields watching not only his grandchildren play, but also his son coach them to success. He lived his life around their schedules and games and would not have traded those moments for anything in the world. Billy was truly one of the good ones.
