Barbara Jean Widener

Barbara Jean Widener, age 79 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born to the late Franklin D. Musselwhite and Nancy Bright on March 8, 1944, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Barbara attended Massey Hill High School. In her career, she worked as a receptionist for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Barbara was positive, loving, sweet, and encouraging but at the same time outspoken. She was outgoing which led her to inspire many. Barbara had a heart to serve. She loved everyone and never had a bad thing to say. Her family will remember Barbara for loving Christmas and decorating for each holiday! She enjoyed; dancing, coloring, shopping, and of course spending time with family & friends. She found the most joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandsons.

Barbara is survived by her children, Vickie Dupriest, Janet (James Wilson) Land, Juan (Suzanne) Land, Jimmy Owen (Susan) Land, and Jeff (Vicki) Jones; daughter-in-law, Michelle Woods; grandchildren, Cody Land, Shaylee (Jamon Moates) Ezell, Drew Bayless, Emily Williamson, Christopher(Andri) Sustrom, Kali Sunstrom; great-grandchildren, Westin Moates, Owen Moates, Willa Williamson, and Boone Williamson; along with sisters, Kathy Potter and Teresa Musselwhite.

Other than her parents Barbara is preceded in death by her grandmother, Marcie Evans; step-mother, Juanita Musselwhite; brothers, James Musselwhite, Franklin Musselwhite II, Tommy (Dianne) Musselwhite, Michael Spence, and Ronald Bright; and sister, Vicky Hermann.

A gathering of family & friends for Barbara will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a celebration of life from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
