Barbara was born on August 31,1934 in Nashville, TN, to Amos Kendall “A.K.” Hill, II and Martha Frances (Potts) Hill. She was the older sister to Joe Herman Hill and Nancy Jane (Hill) Hopper. On September 30,1953, she married high school sweetheart William McKinley “Tim, Bill” Poe.
Barbara retired after 20 years of service at Zerfoss Student Health, Vanderbilt University. She was a dedicated member of Una Baptist Church teaching Sunday School for 16-18 year old girls and the Girls in Action program for 12-18 year girls. Barbara was a faithful member of Woodbine Baptist Church from 1970 -1979. Since 1979 she has been a devoted member participating in many different ministries at Judson Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, camping and bicycle riding as much as she enjoyed hosting holiday celebrations for her family. Barbara lived all her life as the epitome of a southern lady…from serving sweet tea to everyone who visited her home to always dressing to perfection, including a matching hat.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Brenna (Poe) Chapman and Kimberly (Poe) Miller (Gary);
her grandsons Craig Chapman and Brett Chapman (Jenna); her great grandchildren Connor, Caelynn, Cole, Emma and Kenna. She is also survived by niece Tina (Hill) Clary, nephews Ken Hill, Terry Hill, Jeff Hopper, Steve Hall and Bill Hall and their children and grandchildren, devoted sister-in-law Judy (Davis) Hill and dedicated friend Janette Palmer.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Stephanie Jane Poe, her brother Joe Herman Hill, her sister Nancy Jane (Hill) Hopper, niece Melanie Lynn (Hopper) Scott and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beverly (Poe) and Thurman Hall.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Bethany Center for Rehabilitation and Healing and Aveanna Hospice for their loving care and concern.
