GOODRICH, Barbara Jeanne Adams, January 5, 1938 – June 21, 2013; of Nashville, TN. Survived by husband of 55 years, Dr. Robert F. Goodrich; daughters, Paula Goodrich and Lori (Ray) Reddick; sons (Ret) LTC Robert (Maureen). Goodrich, Jr. of O’Fallon IL and LT Adam (Renee) Goodrich DCSD of LaVergne, TN ; Sister Sherry Adams Roney and Brother, Chris (Sandra) Adams; grandchildren; Alan and Michael Reddick; Bobby, Houston, Nicholas and Krislyn Goodrich. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gwen Adams and brothers, Captain Frank Adams, USMC; and (Ret.) Sgt. Mike Adams, NMPD; and nephew Kevin Adams. Barbara graduated from St. Cecilia Academy and attended The University of Memphis, School of Pharmacy. After completing her first year of Pharmacy School, Barbara and Bobby started their family. After raising their children, Barbara decided to return to the work force and obtained certification as a nursing assistant. This fit Barbara well, as she dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked at St Thomas Hospital for 14 years. She then worked for several Physicians’ as office manager and clinical assistant. Barbara then went on to become Director of Benefits for the Diocese of Nashville; she then followed her passion for the church and took on a position at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She retired from St. Ann’s in 2006. After her retirement she did what made her happiest, volunteering for the Church. Barbara was an active member of Cathedral of the Incarnation, her ministries included RCIA for Adults, Eucharistic Minister, The Passonist Partners, The Legion of Mary, Catholic Business Women, Ladies of Charity and St. Cecilia Alumni, just to name a few.
Many people will remember Barbara most for her cooking, entertaining and for making Rosaries.
If you have a Rosary that is of plastic colored beads…..Barbara made them. She loved making them to send to troops overseas, school colors for parochial school and for her Alma Mater, Saints Cecilia Academy. Memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice or Cathedral Charities. Funeral Mass will be celebrated two o’clock the afternoon of Tuesday, June 25th at The Cathedral of The Incarnation, Rev. Philip Breen Celebrant. Visitation with the family will be from two o’clock until seven o’clock the afternoon of Monday, June 24th with a Rosary service at seven thirty o’clock in the Fleming Center. Visitation Tuesday one hour prior to service. Pallbearers: Mike Mason, Chris Adams, Brian Roney, Houston Goodrich, Alan Reddick, Nicholas Goodrich, and Michael Reddick. Honorary Pallbearers: John E. Burns, Ken Schmitt, Tony Spence, Mark Faulkner, John Krenson, Gilbert Krenson, Thales Finchum, James McKenzie.
