Ann passed away January 1, 2019 at Lakeshore Heartland nursing home. She was born October 6, 1928 in Cimarron, Kansas to Grover and Edith Mitchell. Ann attended Cimarron Consolidated High School in Kansas, and nursing school at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ann was employed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center as an emergency room trauma nurse for many years. After retiring from nursing, she continued to pursue her passion for helping and advocating for others. In her spare time during her retirement, she pursued ballroom dancing with a passion.
Ann was an avid Scrabble player (no one could beat her - EVER), she loved cooking - her cherry cheesecake and lasagna were legendary, she loved her garden and she loved playing Skip-Bo with her friends, the "Skip-Bo ladies," on a weekly basis. Basically, she loved life!
Ann's greatest love has always been for her family. Her daughters describe her as completely and utterly selfless. Ann's love extends to her three cherished grandchildren as well as to every member of her family.
Her daughters extend their gratitude to all staff of Lakeshore Heartland Nursing Home for the kindness and patience extended to them, as well as their "Mrs. Hazelwood." She had her own very special way of letting them all know, they were pretty important to her.
Ann was an active member of Lebanon Road Church of Christ for many years.
