Amanda was born in Accomack County, Virginia, to the late William Fletcher and Mable Eloise Johnson on October 30, 1945. She received her formal education in Philadelphia, PA parochial schools.
She was married to William “Butch” Mitchell on February 14, 2001, having met in 1982.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where she served as a Deacon. Later she and Butch moved to Antioch. She immediately united with 15th Street Baptist Church in Nashville where she became a faithful member and served with the Love Kitchen Ministry.
Amanda was the family matriarch. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, William “Butch” Mitchell; two sisters, Mrs. Karen Linton and Mrs. Celeste O. Norfleet; one brother-in-law, Charles Norfleet; and an extended family and a host of friends in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at two o’clock in the afternoon in Dignity Hall at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, Nashville, TN.
