Richard Dale Kelley, age 89, of Nashville, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2012, at I.U. Health – Bloomington Hospital. Mr. Kelley was born November 30, 1922, in Story, Indiana; he was the son of Richard and Jessie (Morrison) Kelley. Mr. Kelley graduated from Nashville High School in 1940 and from Purdue University in 1944. He was a former teacher in Brown County and a founding member of the Brown County Genealogy Society as well as a past President of Brown County Farm Bureau and past President of Van Buren PTA. Mr. Kelley was editor and publisher of several poultry magazines in Chicago, Illinois. He and Marguerite owned and operated Kelley Greenhouse in Nashville for nineteen years.
His wife Marguerite survives in Nashville. He is also survived by their children: Rick (Brenda) Kelley, Marianne (Stan) Schultz, John Kelley and Robin Kelley as well as grandchildren: Kelley Newman, Jesse Menoni, Will Schultz, Jennifer Plumlee, Elizabeth Kelley, Jasmine Kelley and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 1st, at 11:00 a.m. with one hour visitation prior to service at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville with Glen Percifield officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 31st, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Brown County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
