Mr. Cook was a graduate of Concord High School in Elkhart, served as a Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps and attended Indiana University and Purdue University. He worked for General Electric before owning and operating Legacy Vans in Elkhart. An avid gardener, he was known for growing a variety of orchids.
He married Christina (Weldy) on July 10, 1993. She survives along with sons, Ken (Cindy) Cook of Agoura Hills, CA, Brad Cook of Butlerville, IN, three grandchildren Forrest (Courtney) Cook, Elizabeth Cook, and Kailey Cook and two great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents and younger sister, Jane.
In addition to gardening, he enjoyed traveling, building home theaters, and spending time with family and pets.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Brown County Humane Society in Nashville, IN, Wounded Warrior Project, the American Cancer Society, or Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 4 from 5-7 pm at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville, IN. Burial with military honors will be in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, IN at a later date.
