

Alan T. Almquist, 98, of Mooresville and formerly of Nashville passed away October 6 in Indianapolis, IN. He was born August 2, 1916 in Chicago, IL the son of Axel T. Almquist and Hannah (Ness) Almquist. They preceded him in death. He was a graduate of New Trier High School, Winnetka, IL. Alan served in the Army Signal Corps from 1941-1946 and was stationed on the island of Saipan. He was recalled to duty during the Korean War serving as an aircraft intercept controller in the US Air Force from 1951-1953. He was retired from Illinois Bell. He married Helen R. “H.R.” (Hansen) Almquist in 1942, she preceded him in death. They had two sons Dean Alan Almquist and Don William Almquist. Both preceded him in death. Mr. Almquist married Elaine H. Cooper in 1994, she preceded him in death. After moving to Nashville in 1980, Alan was an active member of Nashville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Brandon Almquist, Moab, Utah & Elyse (Troy) Rische, Rock City, IL, great grandchildren, Jake, Cody, Dalton & Rebecca Antos & Jason Almquist, & his step daughter, Lynne (Wilbert) Turner, Mooresville.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 10 at 1:00 P.M. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home. Rev. Mary Cartwright will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Military Rites by Brown County Veterans’ Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Friday, October 10 from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.
