Stephen Mazur, 101, of Nashua, died peacefully of natural causes on September 26, 2013 at Langdon Place of Nashua surrounded by loved ones.. He was born on June 12, 1912 in Lowell, MA the son of Stanislaus and Mary (Zoltich) Mazur. He grew up in Lowell and was educated in the local school system. After school, he served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Navy and was a proud World War II veteran. Following his years of military service, he attended barber school and was self-employed as a barber for many years relocating to Nashua in the 1950’s.
Stephen loved sports, was an avid Red Sox fan and was honored at Fenway Park on his 100th birthday. He was an active member of the Nashua YMCA until the age of 98.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine (Tamulonis) Mazur in 1999 and by his sister and two brothers.
Stephen is survived by his best friend Richard Conde of Nashua. He loved children and was an “adopted” grandfather to the entire Conde family. He will be remembered fondly as a kind, gracious soul.
A committal service with military honors was held on Saturday October 12 at 9AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, Ledge Rd. in Hudson, NH. The Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home in Nashua is assisting with the arrangements. A memorial service will be held in November at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Nashua.
