Pearl Liopas Giles, 85, of Hollis, NH passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH. She was born in Nashua on April 24, 1927, a daughter of the late Dimitrious and Anastasia (Dramitinou) Liopas. She attended Nashua elementary school as well as Nashua Business College and Rivier College.
Mrs. Giles worked for various businesses in Nashua, eventually becoming the executive secretary for the President of Sanders Associates. She was baptized in the Annunciation Church in Nashua and has been a member of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua since its inception in 1972. Mrs. Giles was also a member of the Ladies Society of A.G.A.P.E. She was a wonderful cook, her spanakopita being a favorite. Having no children of her own, she had a big open heart that welcomed a lot of people into her life. She love spending time at the ocean and beach, and had an absolute genius for friendship.
She is survived by her nephew; George Arnold of Dorchester, MA, two cousins; Angela Vassilous Kent of Shaker Heights, OH and Bessie Vassilous Sikafis of Ayer, MA. She is also survived by some of her friends since High School, known as The Birthday Girls; Marion Pleakas Setterlund, Dolly Rapsis, Arlene Shapiro and Leona Rapsis. She was predeceased by her former husband Kenneth Giles in 2010 and two sisters; Evelyn Liopas Arnold and Helen Liopas.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 9th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St., Nashua, NH 03062.
