Mary L. Lane

Mary was born in Boston, MA on May 5, 1926, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Collins) Monahan.

Mary grew up in West Roxbury, MA and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. Following her graduation, Mary was employed by the John Hancock Insurance Company until her marriage to her loving husband, the late Frederick J. Lane Jr., with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. In 1964, Mary moved to Nashua with her husband and children. Nashua became her home. Mary was a communicant of Holy Infant Jesus Church, and was active in the Nashua Junior Women’s Club, bowling leagues and bridge groups. Mary’s focus in life was always her family; and she was happiest when surrounded by them whether at her pool, around the dining room table, or at one of her children’s homes. She also loved golf, winter breaks in Florida, and any and all opportunities to socialize with her many good friends.

Mary is survived by three daughters, Jeanmarie Dowd and her husband Daniel, Maureen Lemieux and her husband Michael, and Karen Elwood, all of Nashua; one son, John Lane of Cotuit, MA; seven grandchildren, Caroline Dowd of Methuen, MA, Michael Dowd, Kevin Lemieux, Krystin Lemieux, Megan Elwood and Patrick Elwood, all of Nashua, and Shaun Elwood and his wife Angela of Derry; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her brother Urban, and her sister Dorothy.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday September 29, 2013 from 3 PM to 6 PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 KINSLEY STREET, NASHUA, NH 03060. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday September 30, 2013 at 10 AM at Blessed John XXIII Parish, at Infant Jesus, 121 Allds St. Nashua. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, 107 Amherst St. Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005 Boston, MA. 02241-7005.
