He was born in Lowell, MA on November 25, 1926, son of the late Edward and Florida (Dion) Lessard.
Leon was a Nashua resident for 35 years, previously residing in Lowell, MA and Hudson, NH. He served his Country in the United States Navy as a Seaman S1. He worked as a garment cutter for Lowell Lingerie for many years. Leon enjoyed wood working, playing the harmonica, dancing, bingo, gardening, playing pool, animals, and was an avid card player. His greatest love was Christmas. Leon created and displayed his own Christmas village every year. He was the “Santa Claus” of the family.
He is predeceased by three brothers; Timmy, Lenny and Gene Lessard, and a sister; Rita Hoare.
Mr. Lessard is survived by his loving and devoted wife, with whom he would of shared 60 years of marriage with on Thanksgiving Day of this year; Therese B. (Bernard) Lessard, a son Paul Lessard and his wife Linda of Hudson, NH, a daughter; Jackie Susi and her husband Al of Ayer, MA, two sisters; Loretta Bordeleau, and Beatrice Lessard, both of MA., six grand children; Heidi, Nikki, Eddie, Karla, Ashley, and Chris, nine great grandchildren; Katie, Hannah, Tommy, Trevor, Jason, Lexi, Emilia, Troy, and Sophia, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 4 PM to 8 PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH 03060. A Funeral Service was celebrated on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial followed at St. Louis Cemetery in Nashua, NH.
