Judith Poole Humphrey, 88, of Kingston, NH, formerly of Naples, FL and Boxford and Marblehead, MA, entered eternal life on October 19, 2024. She is the beloved wife of 67 years to Robert “Brud” Stone Humphrey.
Born on May 8, 1936, Judy is the daughter of Elizabeth Francis (Towns) Fish and William Thomas Poole. She spent her formative years in Marblehead, graduating from Marblehead High School and then Salem Teachers College. She taught Business Education classes at Littleton High School and Masconomet Regional High School. Judy and Brud raised their family in Boxford and retired to Naples. They were active members of First Church Congregational Boxford for over 30 years, and then of First Presbyterian Church of Naples. Judy had a strong faith in God, serving and attending Bible studies at both of those churches. In addition, she was very involved in Christian Women’s Club. She was devoted to her family and friends. Judy was a blessing to many people and will be greatly missed.
Judy was very outgoing and friendly. She loved to socialize and travel. She went on trips all over the world with Brud and others. One of her best vacations was an Alaskan cruise with her mother. A more difficult trip was an African safari. Judy and Brud’s favorite vacation spot will always be their cottage in Melvin Village, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee where they spent summers with family and friends for over 60 years. Judy’s best childhood friend, Judy Sands and her family, share that beautiful spot which will continue to be a place of relaxation and fun for future generations.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Brud, and her children and their spouses, Tamara and Robert Davis of Boxford, MA, and Lindsey and Jennifer Humphrey of East Hampstead, NH. She leaves four grandchildren, Elizabeth Drummey and husband Stephen, Lauren Humphrey and fiancé Sean, Daniel Humphrey, and Christopher Humphrey. Judy is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Lee Fougere and brother-in-law, Herbert Humphrey. She also has two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, six nieces, and two nephews, along with their families.
Judy will be buried at a private service in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. There will be a public celebration of life at First Church Congregational Boxford at a future time when all the family is able to gather.
