She was born in Dorchester, MA the daughter of Alphonse and Eleanor (Wollencewicz) Steckevicz. She moved to Nashua at an early age and was a resident of the Gate City for more than 80 years.
Emma was educated in the Nashua school system and was a graduate of Nashua High School. She was employed as a sales clerk at Miller’s Department Store but first and foremost was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was married to Andrew S. McCaugney on August 5, 1940 at St. Stanislaus Church and together they shared 50 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Patrick Church.
Emma was pre-deceased by her husband in August 1990, and three brothers, Edwin Steckevicz, Alfred Steckevicz and Chester Steckevicz.
Members of her family include two daughters, Eleanor Tumulty and her husband Peter of Essex, VT, and Maureen Baines and her husband Robert of Manchester; five grandchildren, Maura Tumulty and her husband Rajit Dosanjh, Cathleen Clark and her husband Benjamin, Christina Miller and her husband Michael, Timothy Baines and Catherine Baines; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Miller, Lucas Miller, Fiona Dosanjh and John Clark;a sister, Joan Steckevicz of Nashua; a sister-in-law, Josephine Steckevicz of Hudson, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours were held on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 4 to 8PM, at Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St, Nashua, NH 03060. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, October 5 2010 at 10AM, at St. Patrick Church in Nashua, NH. Burial followed at St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson.
