Bharat grew up in India and was educated in the local public school. In 1970, he graduated from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences and went on to serve his medical residency in intensive care and anesthesiology at SUNY Downstate Health Science University from 1975-1981. After dedicating his life to his medical practice by helping to ease suffering though his vigilance in care for patients and by brightening spirits whenever possible, he retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital as an Anesthesiologist in 2016.
Bharat enjoyed a simple life surrounded by those he loved. He was a selfless and generous person who was always smiling and joking. He enjoyed tinkering with computers, golfing, playing pool, and watching sci-fi movies and mystery/folklore shows. He was a certified hypnotist and member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. A proud and loving grandfather, caring and supportive father, devoted brother, and loyal husband, he loved spending time with his family and his cat, Pumpkin.
He is survived by his children Rachel S. Karajgi and her spouse Michael Fitzgerald, Andrew B. Karajgi and his girlfriend Meghan Blossom; wife Carol Karajgi; sister Sandhya Karajgi; granddaughter Stella Fitzgerald; Arun Nadiga and Family, Gana Germanwala and Family, and many other loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Mohinidevi “Papu” Karajgi; brothers Lingaraj Karajgi and Basawaraj Karajgi; uncle Chandrasekharappa Nadiga; and aunt Shobha Nadiga.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 20 from 4pm to 8pm at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St, Nashua NH. Burial will be held privately for the family.
Donations in memory of Bharat may be offered to the Nashua Humane Society, the American Heart Association, or the Epilepsy Foundation.
